Top takeaways from this session
This is a session you do NOT want to miss watching. It's filled with a ton of fresh insights from the experts, and you're sure to end the session feeling inspired.
Catch the top takeaways below, but make sure to check out the video for all the good stuff:
Unlearn your traffic growth expectations. Most of your organic traffic isn’t coming to you from people who have burning problems. SEOs must unlearn increasing organic traffic as a primary success metric. It’s only one piece of the puzzle. You can have a decrease in traffic and an increase in leads, as the panel discusses from their own experience.
It’s not your website that is the primary asset. It’s your content. People are driving their traffic from many different channels, many that cannot be measured. Traffic and visibility is less attributable, and we need to adapt and learn how to communicate the continued value of organic brand visibility to stakeholders.
If what you’re doing for SEO and content strategy doesn’t make sense for your business or target audience, stop doing it. Nigel shares, "We don't have evidence this will work, but it just makes sense." And Amanda shares she uses this challenge with her clients: “Would you do this if Google didn’t exist?”
Subject matter experts and information gain are key. The real goal is not rankings. The real goal is to get rankings that gain authority and attention and social shares. Then you know it’s something that resonates with real people.
Grow your resiliency in the SEO industry with hard business skills. Learn to speak the language that your clients or executives are speaking, in order to create smart business cases, inform your strategy, and prove your value.
