Clearscope’s AI Draft Builder streamlines the most challenging parts of content creation, getting started and scaling production, by combining search intent analysis, tone customization, and guided drafting into one seamless experience.

We’ll walk you through each step of the Draft Builder workflow so you can confidently produce high-performing, search-optimized content tailored to your brand voice and audience needs.

Before you start writing, make sure you've analyzed a target query to write about. Our analysis helps you to understand what’s ranking for SEO and AI at that exact moment in time.

Start Drafting

Once Clearscope has finished analyzing the target query market you'll be able to start drafting your content by clicking "Get Started."

You’ll be presented with three options:

  • Dive into the guided draft building experience by clicking “Draft with AI”

  • Refresh or update previously published content by selecting an existing page from your Content Inventory via “Optimize Existing Content”

  • Or simply draft your content manually by selecting “Start from a blank draft”

Choose Searcher Intent

The first step is aligning your content with the dominant searcher intent. Clearscope analyzes the top-ranking Google results and categorizes them by the type of intent they reflect such as instructional guides, general knowledge, community discussions, or niche-specific advice. For example, if your article is a “how-to” guide, you’ll want to select the corresponding intent to ensure your draft matches what users are actually looking for.

Select Content Type

Next, choose the format that best suits your content goals. You can opt for an article, a product or service page, or a detailed how-to guide. If you’re working with existing high-performing content, the Infer from Page feature allows you to replicate the layout and formatting of a page from your Content Inventory. This is especially useful when scaling production or maintaining consistency across your site.

Customize Tone

Tone customization is where Clearscope’s AI Draft Builder truly shines. Whether you're aiming for polished professionalism or playful wit, the tool adapts to your preferred voice.

Here’s how you can set the tone:

  • Analyze a published page: Use an existing live page in your Content Inventory to guide the AI’s tone, ensuring consistency with your current content.

  • Paste a writing sample: Provide a snippet that reflects your brand voice or a specific writer’s style. Our AI will mirror that tone throughout the draft.

  • Use Clearscope’s default balanced tone: Opt for a neutral, well-rounded voice that works across industries and audiences.

If your sample has a witty, direct style, for example, the AI will replicate that personality in the output - making your content feel authentically you.

Craft a Title

Crafting the right title is more than just a headline. It’s a key input that shapes the outline and final draft. Clearscope generates title suggestions based on your selected tone and topic. Choose one that reflects your brand personality while staying true to the searcher’s expectations.

Edit the Outline

Now it’s time to review and tailor the AI-generated outline to better reflect your brand voice and audience needs. While Clearscope offers a solid foundation, we recommend refining the structure to highlight your unique value proposition.

Here are a few ways to customize your outline:

  • Edit or remove headings and subheadings: Refine language for clarity, tone, or keyword alignment to better match your content goals.

  • Rearrange sections: Adjust the flow to improve narrative structure or emphasize priority topics by dragging headings to your desired order.

  • Add new headings: Introduce fresh themes or angles that weren’t captured during SERP analysis, such as FAQs, product features, or brand differentiators.

Final Draft & Refinement

The AI-generated draft incorporates all your selections (searcher intent, tone, content type, and outline) into a cohesive piece. You’ll notice stylistic elements from your writing sample reflected in the output, such as parentheticals, rhetorical questions, and a recognizable voice.
